The Subaru Outback's 2.5-litre, four-cylinder engine generates 115 kW of power at 5600 rpm and very useable torque of 223 Nm at 3600 rpm. While the car is quite responsive off the mark, the most impressive aspect of its engine's performance is its 'pulling power' at low to middling revs. The boxer engine is flexible and willing to work hard when required, making it easy to accomplish manoeuvres such as a quick overtake. The engine also makes quite easy work of carrying a full load of passengers and cargo. The all-wheel-drive system, which can vary drive distribution between front and rear wheels from 95/5 percent to 60/40 percent depending on conditions, provides an assured, on-road feel. Grip and balance are good, making the Outback a stable vehicle to push through corners. There is plenty of headroom and leg room in both the front and back, and the back seat could accommodate three people in comfort. The front seats offer good lateral support in the squab and backrest. The Subaru Outback Limited is a very good tourer. It has plenty of interior space and comfort, is well-equipped and drives, rides and handles well.
